Meet the Students

Our students at HopeSetters Autism Center are unique individuals with diverse interests and abilities. Learning continues both inside and outside the classroom, as described below by some of our students.

Chelpan

I am a very verbal learner and love to sing radio catch phrases to my peers in Apple class. I also enjoy water play.

Selete

Although I am slightly verbal, I love learning sign language in Apple class as an additional form of communication. I also think water play is fascinating!

Bema

When I am not in Apple class, I apprentice at Saint Marvin's Hair Salon in Tema. Hair styling and makeup are my passion.

Kekeli

As a visual learner, I easily recall logos and images which I love reproducing in both writing and art activities in the Pear Annex classroom.

Sesime

As one of four students in Banana class, I perform best when given individual attention. I am very affectionate with my teachers and am always smiling during Aqua Therapy.

Joshua

I love academic activities and in Apple class I can show off my writing skills everyday. My creativity shines through when I use innovative writing utensils and methods.

Jeffrey

Being active is a big part of how I learn so I thrive during outdoor activities. In between academic exercises with my Apple classmates I take a break by walking around the Center.

EDWIN & MARVIN

Although we are identical in appearance, we have diverse interests and personailities. I, Edwin, thrive in the academic setting of Apple class, especially during art exercises. And I, Marvin, am more of an auditory learner and so Pear class is the best fit for me.

Kwesi Kyei

I am highly visual and can always be found dancing around the Center with colorful strings and ribbons. In Banana class, my teachers incorporate colors and textures that I like into academic lessons.

JULIANNA

I am an independent student in Grape class and I take on additional responsibilities to help teachers with tasks and errands. Although I sometoimes struggle with fine motor activities, I jump at any opportunity to practice with skills such as beading.
